A building is considered energy self-sufficient if it has no external power connections. This means that the building is unreliant on electricity, oil or gas and is powered exclusively by solar energy.

In its role as a full-service contractor and construction company, WSG AG built the world’s first energy self-sufficient house. The nine-apartment building in Brütten, Zurich, is fully powered by solar energy. The first tenants moved into the apartments in mid-2016.
